Industrial Automation

We develop custom controls both for the process industry and mechanical engineering and contribute to improving the quality and quantity of your industrial processes.

Our project engineers are able to combine their extensive experience with the latest techniques in order to ensure that your control will operate trouble-free for many years. We have a broad knowledge of electrical design as well as of the development and commissioning of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.

In addition, we apply vertical integration to enable connections with MES systems and quality management systems, among others. Projects may be carried out at the VIRO engineering office, but also at your location, with the primary objective of offering you an optimum automation solution.

Work method and activities

Within the industrial automation department, a variety of projects are carried out for a large number of clients. Within these projects, we are responsible for preparing and establishing the specifications into a functional design. To this end, we apply our knowledge of hardware and software systems in a process-oriented approach. After the design is approved, we draw up a control architecture in accordance with applicable norms and regulations and take any existing interfaces of the present systems into account.

Our programmers then develop the functional specification into control software. A modular approach ensures a high degree of reusability of already tested software components. In addition, future changes or extensions can be more easily implemented.

Testing and commissioning

Within Industrial Automation, VIRO engineering disposes ofhas good facilities for testing hardware and software internally, in our own test room at its disposal. This allows checking the functionality and pre-configuring all equipment.

The final phase consists of on-site commissioning at the (end) customer’s premises, whether at home or abroad. An important phase in which several disciplines converge. Our engineers are accustomed to working with a high degree of autonomy under dynamic conditions. Finally, acceptance tests (FAT & SAT) allow to ultimately conclude the project and look back on a successful collaboration.
